Dry Needling is a technique in which the therapist punctures the muscles with a needle. This form of therapy is very effective for treating “trigger points” or knots in a muscle. These are small hardenings that can cause annoying, radiating pain. With Dry Needling, the therapist places a targeted, very thin needle in a muscle to relax it quickly and for a long time. The treatment is used, among other things, to treat myofascial pain syndrome, stiffness and pain in the muscles.
Trigger points can manifest themselves in:
• Pain and/or stiffness in a certain place in a muscle and also radiating pain
• Movement restrictions in associated joints
• Decreased strength in the muscle(s) involved
• Pain avoidance behavior, you start moving “differently”.
• Tingling in arm/leg, headache or dizziness

• Tingling in arm/leg, headache or dizziness
• Direct effect on the treated muscle;
• Can be used for both short and long-term injuries;
• Direct relaxation of the muscle ensures rapid pain reduction;
• Fast recovery of the muscles.
Dry Needling uses a “dry” acupuncture needle, so no fluid is injected into the muscle. The Dry Needling method is based on Western anatomical and neurophysiological knowledge. Dry Needling is therefore not acupuncture. With Dry Needling, the therapist usually uses one needle, which is used to puncture the muscle for a short period of time.
