Sleep therapy is a treatment specifically designed for people with sleep problems. The aim of the treatment is to reduce the insomnia itself and the complaints resulting from this insomnia. Possible additional complaints of insomnia include:

Who is sleep therapy suitable for?

Sleep therapy is suitable for anyone who suffers from a sleep disorder. Sleep disorders can be divided into biomedical sleep disorders and subjective or behavioral sleep disorders. In biomedical sleep disorders, the cause of the disorder is a demonstrable (physical) problem. These could be the following problems:

• Apnea: frequent stopping of breathing during the night in combination with heavy snoring
• Restless legs
• Undesirable behaviors while sleeping, such as anxiety, panic, dreams, nightmares, or sleepwalking

You may also suffer from a subjective or behavioral sleep disorder. This means that you feel like you are sleeping poorly. Possible causes for this are:

•  Difficulty falling asleep combined with a tendency to sleep in too late
• Have difficulty sleeping through the night and suffer from worry
•  Laying awake too long at night
•  Waking up too early in the morning
•  Feeling insufficiently rested in the morning and dreading the day
